Meet The Team

The Caleb Ministries’ Team

Rev. Martin and Sue Allen (Founding Directors of Caleb Ministries)

With over 35 years of senior leadership experience that has involved pastoring, missionary work and leadership training, Martin has ministered directly into the Church both nationally and internationally. Ordained as a Pentecostal minister in 2000 but with relational links across the denominational spectrum, Martin’s passion is to see leaders everywhere mentored, equipped and released into all that God has for them, so that the Kingdom of God is extended and expanded throughout the world. Up until early 2005, he was the British Director of The Joshua Foundation – a leadership missions training facility in Tanzania, East Africa. Sue also worked as a Teacher trainer and helped many Tanzanian schools and teachers improve the quality of their teaching. They lived and worked there as missionaries for three years before returning to the UK to begin developing the Caleb 14:24 vision. Martin founded and now directs Caleb 14:24 Ministries ably supported by Sue and a strong team. Sue has a strong compassionate heart that exudes the healing love of Jesus to all she meets. She has a strong motivation to care for and minister prophetically into the lives of leaders and their wives. They have three adult children and five grandchildren.

Rev. Gary Spencer (Chair of the Trustees of Caleb Ministries and OCN Internal Verifier)

Gary is married to Beverley and lives in Birmingham, where he runs a property development company with his two sons. He has a real desire to see the people of Wales released into their prophetic calling. He has an insightful and prophetic gift himself, that both challenges and blesses us at Caleb. His calling as a ‘leader amongst leaders’ has enabled him to network extensively across the body of Christ. He spent 15 years in leadership at one of the largest churches in the UK, where he was responsible for church planting and pastoral care. He loves to support and encourage leaders who want to break new ground. His many years in business along with his management experience prove a real asset. He has extensive charity governance experience, is chair of our trustees and looks after our Open College Network offer. Gary has been a close friend of Martin and Sue for over 25 years and is a much respected and highly esteemed member of our team.

Rob Jones (Caleb Course Deliverer)

Rob is a full time Church Consultant serving a number of churches across South Wales in an apostolic role. He is a Vice President Member of the National Board of Gweini (the Council of the Christian Voluntary Sector in Wales) and a member of the National Steering Group of Waleswide, a church planting and strengthening network. He graduated London Bible College in 1979 with 2 diplomas in Theology. Rob’s vision is for ‘Transformed Communities through Transformed Churches’ across the nation of Wales and his input to churches includes helping them to define and develop vision, train and build leadership teams and advise on strategic project planning. We are delighted that Rob has agreed to serve the Caleb vision as a trustee for such a time as this and know that his contribution will be pivotal in helping to take the ministry into its future destiny. In addition to being a wise consultant, Rob also regularly delivers Caleb course modules.

Rev. Ken Iveson (Trustee of Caleb Ministries and Course Deliverer)

Prior to getting wonderfully saved in 1977, Ken was a Controls Systems Engineer working on various projects around the UK, the North Sea, Norway and Canada. He went to Bible College in 1980 for three years and toward the end of his theological training in 1983, he and his wife Betty were called to purchase Bryn -Y – Don Community School in Dinas Powys. This was a faith venture into which four other trustees joined them to form the charity and team that developed Hebron Hall Christian Centre.

After 12 years of intense full time, unpaid work, he and his directors believed that it was time to hand over the development of the Centre to a management team to grow the charity’s operation. This is a successful, ongoing enterprise and though they still live at the centre, God called them to work more directly with the church.

Accordingly, Ken joined Spurgeon’s Bible College in London in 1995 and received an accreditation to the Baptist Ministry. He has since exercised various calls to pastoral leadership in a number of churches and is currently serving as the Senior Pastor in Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Barry in the Vale of Glamorgan. We are delighted that Ken has come on board as a trustee and his experience and teaching abilities have become an invaluable asset.

Rev. Rob Burns (Trustee of Caleb Ministries and Course Deliverer)

Rob has been in full-time Christian ministry since 1989, first in the USA and now in Wales. As well as serving Evangelical Alliance, Wales as a Consultant he is the founding director of Missional Links Wales, which seeks to partner American Churches with Welsh Churches in long-term partnerships through short-term mission trips, internships, receiving and sending missionaries, consultants, and teachers. Rob has a Masters degree in theology and has worked in the sports arena as an `A’ license football coach; in education as a theology tutor and in the church as a leader and preacher. He is passionate about coaching and mentoring people who are looking for direction, encouragement, and purpose. Rob is an outstanding communicator and is a highly valued member of the Caleb Ministries’ teaching team. He has 3 very tall and grown-up sons and is married to Jenny.

Paul and Cathryn Knowleson (Caleb Course Deliverer)

Paul and Cathryn are the senior pastors of Gateway Church, Merthyr Tydfil and are pioneering a fruitful work on a challenging council estate near the town. Paul was one of our first Caleb graduates and has become a very significant asset to the team. His dedication to the work the Lord has called him to, which has involved the application of wise counselling skills to the very difficult and ever changing social problems that surround their church – combined with his excellent public ministry, has been inspirational. Cathryn is a Deputy Headteacher and an outstanding communicator, who is beginning to help share the teaching load of the ministry. We are so blessed to have these two on board.

Rev. Paul and Evelyn Houiellebecq

Having served as an ordained minister for over 20 years in pioneering churches, in both Switzerland and Wales, Paul has led with a Kingdom mindset, prophetic vision and with a deep passion for networking among leaders. He founded the Beacon Centre Trust in St. Mellons, Cardiff, that built a £1.3M community project to express the heart of God in creative and practical ways. He met Martin 15 years ago, engaged in East African church leaders’ training and they have linked up again over the last 7 years to help support the Caleb vision.
